Yola (Yolanda Quartey) was born in Bristol, England and she is a British singer-songwriter who is known for her genre-bending Americana, soul, country and rock music. She grew up on 70s records and that translated to her desire for a powerful voice. She started her career by working with Massive Attack and fronting the band Phantom Limb before she started her solo career in 2016.

Her debut album, Walk Through Fire (2019) which was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and received four Grammy nominations. Those nominations included Best New Artist and Best Americana Album. The record was praised for its vintage warmth, narrative strength and standout tracks like “Faraway Look” and “Ride Out in the Country.”
